Joseph* was an internationally known hitman, the servant of a powerful witch doctor, a gang member hired to kill. An unsettling dream led him to Radio 4VEH and to a conversion as unexpected as the apostle Paul’s.
His life had been insignificant until he was offered power and excitement while he was still young. A gang offered him a sense of family, adventure and community respect. Then, an area witch doctor offered him a job: as a hitman.
Killing became his profession. The witch doctor told him who and when to kill. For his wages, Joseph would do the job, no questions asked.
Over the years, Joseph committed many crimes for this powerful man. But his next assignment was different. Joseph got the name and place, and he prepared to carry out his assignment the next day. But just as God had different plans for the violent life of Paul in the book of Acts, he had something different for Joseph.
That night, Joseph had a dream. The man in his dream told him: “You will be unable to kill the person you are planning to kill. You no longer have the power to kill.”
Joseph woke up confused and panicked. His job and his identity depended on his ability to kill. In desperation, that same day, he turned to Jesus and gave his life to the Lord. The next day, he headed for Radio 4VEH.
He knew no pastors, no churches, no Christians. But he knew Radio 4VEH, and he knew that they knew about the Lord.
Joseph met with 4VEH evangelist Emmanuel (known as Medson), who took all of Joseph’s voodoo objects and burned them to cut all ties with his oppressive past.
Joseph asked Medson to pray with him, knowing he was in great need of something powerful in his life and he had heard that there was power in prayer.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16 (NIV)
We believe God can reach gang members today.
He may even use 4VEH to reach them.
