When his home came crashing down in the earthquake that hit southern Haiti this summer, six-year-old Isaac was trapped between layers of concrete. Miraculously, he escaped unharmed and shared his story with our news crew, his shy smile warming the hearts of reporter Jimmy and cameraman Max.
“I crawled on my stomach towards the light” he recalled. Then Isaac stuck out his finger and cried out, “Papa, I’m here!”

People feel so desperate in Haiti’s complex crisis. For months, gangs have blocked access to fuel and other vital supplies, forcing hospitals and schools to close. Gangs kidnapped more than 600 people for ransom this year—Haitian citizens, children, and 30 foreigners, including missionaries.

Life is so hard, but our team is persevering so people like Isaac’s family hear songs of praise instead of gunshots, hear Gospel hope instead of hate and despair.
